Each year on the third evening of October, we ritually remember the passing of Francis of Assisi from earthly life into everlasting life with God. In fact, the Transitus has become a significant annual event. But, this celebration is not only a memorial, it is also a celebration of the spirit of Francis in our midst today, in each of us. This is a time when we, inspired by Francis, consider how we can be light for our world. To ritually revisit the story of Francis' passing is vital; without it something significant is missing. It specifies the living memory of Francis; it intensifies our commitment to follow Christ in the way of the poor man of Assisi.
Come see what it is like! The Community of the Church of the Transfiguration invites you to celebrate with us on:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
St. Francis tells us “it is not fitting, when in God’s service, to have a gloomy face or a chilling look” and so, like good Franciscans, we will have some delightful refreshments in the parish hall after Transitus!
