Palm Sunday of the Passion

Jesus journeyed to Jerusalem, and entered the city riding on a colt, a donkey. People laid down their cloaks and spread leafy palm branches, crying out “Hosanna in the highest.”

Joseph was a man accustomed to journeys, too. He went from his home in Nazareth, to Bethlehem, to Jerusalem, to Egypt and then back home. He probably walked while Mary rode a donkey. Maybe they took turns. On Joseph’s journeys people did not cry out “Hosanna” or lay down palm branches. He plodded forward, always in faith, sometimes without understanding or affirmation. These were not just geographical journeys; they were spiritual journeys, leading him deeper into the plan God had for him.

During this Lenten season, where have you journeyed? What have you learned from Joseph as he walked with you? What have you been reflecting on in your heart? What actions do you wish to do? Maybe St. Joseph can continue to walk with you. To be your guide, as one who made many journeys, pondered, and prayed, and acted in faith.
