Sacrament of the Sick

"Are any among you sick? Let them call for the elders of the Church to pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick ones, and the Lord will raise them up; and if they have committed any sins, they will be forgiven." (James 5:14-15)

The sacrament can be celebrated with anyone who is ill or experiencing old age. It is no longer reserved to the point of death. There are special prayers that are used when death is approaching. It can be celebrated with anyone who has reached the age of reason, generally considered to be about 7 years old.

Through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick we are assured that God will raise us up, like Jesus, from our bed of pain and sickness and lead us to eternal life.

Through this holy anointing may the Lord in His love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. Amen. May the Lord who frees you from sinnsave you and raise you up. Amen.

The Sacrament of the Sick is celebrated several times a year at weekend masses. We are happy to come to anyone in their home, a nursing home, or hospital to celebrate the sacrament and pray with them.

Please contact the Parish Office for more information or to make arrangements.
