Transfiguration is hoping to develop a Bereavement Ministry
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.": - Matthew 5:4
What is this?
A bereavement ministry provides support and comfort to individuals and families who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
What could you expect?
These are the kinds of things the teams could do:
- Assist Family and the Funeral Director with any needs during the in-state
- Prepare church: candles/vessels/books/incense, etc.
- Serve as a Reader or Eucharistic Minister if needed.
- Clean up at end of service
- Make contact with the readers, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, and gift bearers
- Pass out programs
- Assist with luncheon if needed
- Occasionally lead prayers at funeral home
- Occasionally lead prayers at graveside
- Occasionally help plan the funeral
- Follow up with cards or phone call
Volunteers would be trained!
