Bereavement Ministry

Transfiguration is hoping to develop a Bereavement Ministry

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." – Matthew 5:4

What is this?

A bereavement ministry provides support and comfort to individuals and families who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

What could you expect?

These are the kinds of things the teams could do:

  • Assist Family and the Funeral Director with any needs during the in-state
  • Prepare church: candles/vessels/books/incense, etc.
  • Serve as a Reader or Eucharistic Minister if needed.
  • Clean up at end of service
  • Make contact with the readers, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, and gift bearers
  • Pass out programs
  • Assist with luncheon if needed
  • Occasionally lead prayers at funeral home
  • Occasionally lead prayers at graveside
  • Occasionally help plan the funeral
  • Follow up with cards or phone call

Volunteers would be trained!
