Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Transfiguration
Who are we?
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization founded in Paris, France, in 1833 by 20-year-old law student Frédéric Ozanam and his companions. Inspired by St. Vincent de Paul, its members—known as Vincentians—provide person-to-person service to individuals and families experiencing poverty, hunger, homelessness, and hardship.
Mission:
A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness through building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.
Vision:
Like that of its founder, Frédéric Ozanam, the vision of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit "is to embrace the world in a network of charity," to impact poverty through systemic change.
