A Franciscan Parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council serves as an advisory body to the Pastor. The Council also coordinates parish ministries through four commissions: Christian Service, Discipleship, Education and Worship. Each Commission has a representative from the Parish Staff to facilitate implementation of projects and ideas. In addition to coordinating these ministries, the Council helps set broad goals and objectives for the Parish, assists with growth and development of the Parish as a People of Faith, and works to unify the Parish Community.

At Transfiguration, the Council is comprised of six members at large, one representative from each of the four Commissions, two Vicariate representatives and the recording secretary.  Meetings are currently held the second Monday of the month from September through June. Any parishioner interested in serving with the Pastoral Council or any of the Commissions is invited for consideration through self nomination, parishioner nomination or Pastor’s recommendation. Nominations will be accepted during the month of April. Individuals are selected – with guidance from the Holy Spirit – through a random draw on Pentecost Sunday.

We meet once a month and are looking for many volunteers to assist in these very rewarding ministries.  Thank you and God Bless!
