A Franciscan Parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit

Browsing FROM THE DESK OF FR. JEFF

April 26, 2020

Holy Week and Easter were no doubt quite different this year.  I hope you were able to join us for some or all of our liturgies.

It is my hope that we gave our virtual community some sense of hope, light, and beauty during these difficult days.

We did reach hundreds of people -- many parishioners here, but we also reached people in Cincinnati, Dayton, Houston, Galveston, and even Guatemala and Chile.

I just checked our Easter Sunday Mass statistics:

1229 reached, 449 engagements, 104 comments, 9 shares, and 716 views.

I (and many others) am immensely grateful for all the help in making this happen.

At this time, the suspension of public masses and all parish events goes until April 30. If there is any change, we will let you know as soon as possible.

We want you to be aware that we have completely cleaned and disinfected every surface we could find in the church! Pews, chairs, kneelers, floor, sanctuary furnishings, ledges, etc! The Church will remained closed in the mornings until we get the word that we can reopen. We welcome you to pray in the bell tower shrine or in the prayer garden.

We hope to have a grand celebration when we are able to gather once again!

We are most grateful to parishioners who have continued to send in parish contributions during this time. Thank you for your support and generosity!

We are receiving contributions through good old snail mail, and online. See our website to learn about setting up online giving.

Br. Eric has received approval from our Provincial Leadership to make his final vows. This will probably take place with another friar in Cincinnati sometime in late summer or early fall, at a date to be determined as things clarify. Congratulations, Eric!

Br. Phil will mark 60 years as a professed friar this year. We hope to have a celebration with his family in August. Thank you, Br. Phil, for your commitment and service.

So many other things are "on hold" at the moment. When things clarify, we will see what we have to let go of, what we can re-schedule, and how best to move forward. We are receiving guidance from the AOD.

Fr. Jeff
