We welcome our visiting missionary, Fr. Alan Abalon. Thank you for your generosity for his diocese of Catarman in the Philippines.

Some parishioners have received a text message apparently from me, asking for the purchase of a gift card supposedly for a cancer patient that I apparently want to help. Whoever is sending the texts asks for the serial number on the card so it can be used quickly. This is a SCAM targeted at clergy and churches and is going across the country. Please know that I will never do this. If you ever receive such a message please ignore it and do not respond. I have reported this to the police, but there is not much that can be done.

Also, next month, on September 15, we will celebrate Catechetical Sunday with the rest of our fellow Catholics throughout the United States. Our Religious Education classes will start the following Sunday, September 22. This is an opportunity for us to think about our responsibility and privilege to pass on the faith! We want to provide a quality faith formation for all our parishioners, especially our young ones, and so we need to prepare, plan, and purchase adequate resources, so it is not too early to start thinking and planning. You will have an opportunity to register students during weekday mornings with our secretary, Amy Burgin, and in the afternoons and on most Sundays with Diane Klucka. However, forms are always available in the gathering area and can be filled out and left in the box on the welcome table any time that the church is open. For our planning, registering sooner rather than later is helpful for us, since we will know how many students will be in each class. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

We will provide classes for our youngest (ages 3-6) using the Good Shepherd model of catechesis. We have classes for second and third graders preparing for First Reconciliation and First Communion. Grades 4-5 and 6-7 will also be offered. Forms for Confirmation students who are in 8th grade or high school and the RCIA Program for those adults and older children who wish to join the Catholic Church will also be available.

All classes will take place on Sunday morning after the 10:00 mass, beginning about 11:15 AM. We hope that you will worship as a family and then go to classes; you can consider your family’s faith formation experience as beginning at 10:00 with mass!

We thank our parents for taking the responsibility to form your children in our faith. The parish is very happy to assist you in that most important responsibility!
