A Franciscan Parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit

Browsing FROM THE DESK OF FR. JEFF

August 29, 2021

After serving the people of Transfiguration Parish for more than 30 years, Paula Hillman has discerned that it is time for her to retire. Paula’s husband, Bill, needs more of her time at home. We are immensely grateful to Paula for her generous service these many years and wish her and Bill well.

Paula has served most recently as our Bulletin Editor, our Facilities Manager, Christian Service Coordinator, and general “Jill of all trades” for the parish. She knew exactly when to start programs, (she kept the overall parish calendar), where and how to put up the Christmas Giving Tree, (and organized all the gifts that came in!), when the carpets needed to be cleaned, where and when to put up the liturgical seasonal decorations, what we might do for the AOD Mercy in Action Day, when supplies were needed for the kitchen, funeral luncheons, etc. etc. etc. We are only going to learn all the many things that Paula took care of when she is no longer working here!

We are in the process now of discerning how we will fill in and take care of things. The Christian Service Commission is already volunteering to take care of some of the Christmas events. Our Secretary, Amy, will take over the bulletin and calendar. Br. Eric will oversee the kitchen. We will welcome other volunteers to step forward and assist during this time of transition.

Paula’s last day is September 30th. We will bless her at all masses on the weekend of September 25-26. On Sunday, September 26, we will have a reception between the masses, from 9:45-10:45am, so that parishioners can express their appreciation personally.

Thank you, Paula!

Fr. Jeff
