Browsing FROM THE DESK OF FR. JEFF

May 11-12, 2019

Dear Moms, Grandmothers, Godmothers,

We love you and are forever grateful for all you are and do for us! To say “thank you” seems so little, but our hearts are filled with gratitude. We are grateful for giving us life, for all you offered along the way, for the discipline and the challenge you gave us and at the same time seeing the best in us! Thanks for the innumerable sacrifices you have made for us. Today, we not only celebrate you, but here in church, we pray with and for you!

And speaking of prayer, we invite all parishioners to:

Lift Up Southfield First Annual Prayer Breakfast

The Church of the Transfiguration is an active member of the Lift Up Southfield, our local ecumenical and interfaith association. I have participated in most meetings since I came here. We are inaugurating our first, and hopefully annual, Prayer Breakfast to be held on Wednesday, May 29, 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM at St. John’s Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Highway. Our goals are to:

1) build community

2) provide hope, encouragement, and spiritual inspiration

3) benefit a local charity - in this case SOS/Lighthouse

We host SOS (South Oakland Shelter) annually in October, so we have a relationship with this charity.

Our keynote speaker is local TV personality Chuck Gaidica who will speak on the Power of Faith. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 purchased online before the event. They can be purchased on the SOS website:

I would love to have a nice showing of Transfiguration parishioners. I hope to see you there! The four friars and three staff members will be present to pray for our community. Thanks for your continued participation in the life of our parish and broader community and our efforts to reach out to those in need.

Maybe bring your mom!

Fr. Jeff
