A Franciscan Parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit

Browsing FROM THE DESK OF FR. JEFF

May 17, 2020

As you know, the Governor has placed a “stay home” order on all Michigan residents until May 28. The Archdiocese is monitoring the situation closely, and public masses and parish events are suspended until further notice, until it is safe for us to gather again in groups. We will keep you informed about when we will be able to open the church and gather again for worship.

When we do return, we do know things will be different. Though final decisions have not been made, it is likely that we will have to wear masks, be limited in the number who can gather, and practice some form of social distancing in the church. We will also have to keep in place some of the practices regarding things such as receiving communion and the sign of peace. If there are limitations on the size of groups, we may have to have some people worship in the hall while others worship in the church. We will have to be cautious about congregating in groups in the gathering space both before and after mass. We may have to modify our schedule. We will be receiving guidance about all this from the AOD, but we are already thinking about what this might look like in our space. We will inform you about what we need to do as soon as all the information becomes available. We will be grateful for your cooperation in keeping every one safe and healthy!

In the meantime, please continue to join us as we livestream the mass on the parish:
